Benefits of a Georgetown Degree Showcased at Open House Event

Admissions Open House

Future members of the Class of 2022 were able to gain first-hand experience of what sets a Georgetown education apart at the Admissions Open House at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q). The event, which was open to the public, took place at GU-Q’s Education City campus on Monday, 20 November.

The Admissions Open House was an opportunity for interested high school and transfer students and their parents to learn more about the University’s academic programs, campus life, and the benefits of a Georgetown education. They had the opportunity to hear from GU-Q’s Dean Ahmad Dallal, as well as from a number of alumni whose Georgetown degrees have formed the foundation of their successful careers.

“GU-Q offers an incredibly unique experience – from our diverse students, to our location in Qatar and our internationally respected faculty,” said Director of Admissions Joseph Hernandez. “Interested applicants can come to the Open House and see how a Georgetown education can contribute to their future.”

GU-Q offers a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree, following the same curriculum as Georgetown’s Main Campus in Washington, D.C. Students can major in one of four areas: Culture and Politics, International Economics, International History, and International Politics. The internationally recognized degree has allowed GU-Q alumni to excel in a diverse range of industries in Qatar and abroad, including education, finance, energy, sports management, media, and communications.

In addition to learning more about the BSFS degree, visitors were able to meet with GU-Q staff, faculty, current students, and alumni to ask questions and find out more about the University. The admissions team also shared application tips and advice, as well as information on the financial aid options available to students. Potential applicants and their families could also tour the Georgetown building.
