Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q), hosted the International Association for College Admissions Counseling (ACAC) Middle East & North Africa Regional Institute, at their Education City campus.

This regional training Institute is aimed at connecting secondary school counselors within the Middle East and North Africa region with university admission advising tools and networks of universities around the world. It is also intended for universities who want to build connections and deepen their understanding of students in the region.

Through in-depth and focused conversations and presentations, participants will gain a greater understanding of the educational process, admission requirements, fees and scholarships, and the challenges and opportunities students face when applying to universities.

Joseph Hernandez, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Strategic Enrollment Management at GU-Q, said: “We are delighted to host this regional training institute which is helping to build support networks and advance the professionalization of admissions counselors working in or serving students from our region. Having worked in this region for nearly 20 years, I know how important training and resource sharing is for the success of all students.”

This major international conference boasts participation from more than a hundred universities, along with school counselors and community based organizations hailing from diverse nations including Canada, China, Egypt, France, China, Hungary, Italy, The Netherlands, Qatar, Spain, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and the United States.
