Executives Complete International Finance Course at Georgetown
Professionals from a range of industries in the Gulf were able to refine their skills in international finance at a recent course held by Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q). The two-day intensive course, held in collaboration with Qatar Foundation, provided executives with the tools and intuition needed to master global markets.
The Certificate in International Finance course focused on the critical skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving business world. Through in-depth analysis of the components that comprise the global financial system and a careful study of the forces that shift them, the course aimed to enable participants to anticipate, understand, and respond to movements in global markets. It was taught by Associate Professor and Director of International Economics at GU-Q, Dr. Alexis Antoniades, who is an expert on the economies of Gulf countries.
“We are excited to have been able to bring the quality of our programs and expertise to the business community in Doha through courses such as international finance,” said Antoniades. “This course helps the participants further develop their skills and become leaders within their organization as they tackle the challenges of today’s global economic environment, by being able to connect economics, to finance, to geopolitics, and even the psychology of the markets.”
For course participant Dr. Fawaz Al-Husainan, the program provided him with an opportunity to learn more about the policies various states and central banks use to tackle market shifts.
“There is no doubt that the fluctuations of the markets make anyone interested to learn more in international finance to be fully knowledgeable, especially for officials in the higher government departments that require understanding in a scientific way,” said Al-Husainan, undersecretary for Kuwait’s Ministry of State. “I benefited greatly from everything that was put to the program.”
The Certificate in International Finance is the latest in a variety of short courses and custom training sessions offered by GU-Q’s executive and professional education program. More information can be found on the website: https://cee.georgetown.edu/
