Youssef Haddad is Professor of Arabic at Georgetown University in Qatar. His research focus is on syntax, pragmatics, and their interface. He is passionate about the social conditions of language use and its relation to phrase and sentence structure. 

He is the author of  Control into Conjunctive Participle Clauses: The Case of Assamese (Mouton de Gruyter, 2011) and The Sociopragmatics of Attitude Datives in Levantine Arabic (Edinburgh University Press, 2018). His most recent book, Introduction to Arabic Linguistics (Wiley-Blackwell, 2023) is a comprehensive guide for students of Arabic language. Professor Haddad has also edited several volumes in the field of Arabic linguistics. 

Professor Haddad received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida, Gainesville.
