Georgetown Joins National Day Celebrations at Darb Al Saai Fairgrounds
In the run up to December 18, Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) has joined in the festivities at the official Qatar National Day exhibition at the Darb Al Saai fairgrounds. The event, which runs from 8-20 December, allows government agencies, businesses, and educational institutions to connect with members of the public to celebrate Qatar’s culture and history.
GU-Q’s stand in the Qatar Foundation tent at Darb Al Saai offers visitors the opportunity to learn more about campus life and the programs on offer at the University. They can also take part in an interactive game, which allowed them to test their international affairs knowledge by guessing the countries represented on a board of flags.
The National Day attractions at Darb Al Saai include Qatari food, merchandise, shows, and competitions. Inspired by a poem by Qatar founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, this year’s National Day theme is ‘We are tamers of difficulties.’
This is the third year that Qatar Foundation has had its own tent at the popular exhibition, and the third time that GU-Q has taken part. In addition, GU-Q students hosted their own National Day celebrations prior to the end of the semester. This event, which was held on the GU-Q campus, featured a range of traditional food and crafts, musical performances, horse riding, and poetry.
