GU-Q Students Reem Al Muraikhi and Fatima Yunusa Honored with QF Excellence Award
Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) Class of 2024 graduates Reem Al Muraikhi and Fatima Yunusa have been recognized by Qatar Foundation (QF) with the prestigious QF Excellence Award. This award honors exceptional graduating students who have demonstrated excellence in academics, holistic development, and community service.
Reem Al Muraikhi
Reem’s dedication to environmental politics and active campus involvement have distinguished her as a remarkable student. While at GU-Q, Reem took part in COP28, a global climate conference, which allowed her to expand her knowledge and gain practical experience in international environmental negotiations. Additionally, she co-founded the popular Crochet Club, fostering creative expression on campus. Her achievements include consistent academic honors, supported by a consistently high GPA, and a memorable study abroad experience in Seoul, South Korea, where she immersed herself in a new culture, informing her active citizenship at home.
Fatima Yunusa
Fatima’s leadership and commitment to social justice significantly impacted the community during her time at GU-Q. As president of the African Student Association and founder of La Communauté Francophone, she promoted cultural awareness and inclusivity on campus. Honored with the Dean’s Medal, graduating summa cum laude, and receiving the award for outstanding graduate in the Culture and Politics major, her academic achievements reflect a rigorous pursuit of excellence. Beyond her leadership roles as Community Development Advisor and Senior Peer Tutor, Fatima’s numerous initiatives actively bridged cultural gaps and supported student development.
