Dr. Kenneth D. Grcich (Dean Ken) is a distinguished higher education leader with over two decades of experience in student affairs and university administration. As the Associate Dean for Student Affairs, Dean Ken provides strategic leadership to the university’s Division of Student Affairs. He engages with students to understand their needs, enriching their experiences, and creating transformative opportunities that foster success, resilience, and a strong sense of community. Known for his collaborative approach and commitment to inclusivity, he works closely with departments across the university to develop programs that support holistic student growth, well-being, and lifelong learning.

In his previous role as Dean of Students at the University of Redlands, Dean Ken oversaw multiple departments, including the Counseling Center, Student Health Center, Recreation and Outdoor Programs, Community Standards, Student Activities, and Residence Life & Housing. Before his work at Redlands, Dr. Grcich served as the Associate Dean of Students and a founding staff member at New York University Abu Dhabi (2010-2018). In this role, he served as a senior leader of the Student Affairs Division and was instrumental in establishing and advancing initiatives in residential education, wellness, and student conduct, building a strong foundation for student engagement and development.

An adjunct faculty member and published author, Dean Ken teaches courses that empower future student affairs professionals, drawing on his deep expertise from a Doctorate in Higher Education Management and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania. Internationally recognized for his insights, he has presented widely on cultural competency, transformative student engagement, and crisis management. His dedication and impact in the field have earned him numerous awards and recognitions. Dean Ken remains committed to cultivating inclusive, supportive, and vibrant educational environments that prepare students for meaningful lives.

Ken earned his doctorate in Higher Education Management (2008) and a master’s degree in Social Work (2000) from the University of Pennsylvania. He also earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from Indiana State University. His dissertation was titled, “Beyond the Gates: An Exploration of Socioeconomically Disadvantaged Students Navigating the University of Pennsylvania.” His other academic interests include the effectiveness of a college house system, the extent to which students interact with and utilize the diverse campus population, and the expectations and experiences of today’s students. He is also a certified Gallup Strengths Life Coach.
