Mohamed Ali is pursuing his PhD in Arabic and Islamic Studies. His research interests range from classical and post-classical Islamic law and theology to the ethical discourse surrounding emerging technologies. His dissertation explores networks of scholarship, the construction of authority, and mechanisms for combating legal indeterminacy within the Maliki school of jurisprudence. At GU-Q, Mohamed will teach Islamic Civilisation, an introductory course highlighting pivotal themes in philosophy, law, science, art, and architecture from pre-Islamic history to the present. Mohamed’s GU-Q faculty mentor is Ayman Shabana.
