Phi Alpha Theta Honor Society Inducts SFS-Q Students
Three SFS-Q students currently studying at Main Campus attended the Phi Alpha Theta (PAT) candlelight Spring banquet and induction ceremony on February 8 in Washington, D.C.
Tala Hammash, Sarah Mohamed and Loukas Kyprianou were officially inducted into PAT, the American honor society for history, at the semi-formal sit-down dinner where the three SFS-Q students were introduced and welcomed.
Sandra Horvath-Peterson, associate professor of history at Georgetown University, said: “It was absolutely delightful to meet Tala, Sarah and Loukas, and to have them among us, sitting at two different tables, chatting enthusiastically with our main campus members. It was HUGE fun, and we all had a great time. The presence of SFS-Q members helped to make it the best banquet we’ve ever had.”
Other SFS-Q inductees to Phi Alpha Theta for the 2012-13 academic year are seniors Noora Al-Mannai, Ghada Al-Subaey, Ysa Chandna, Aya Elwadia, Aminah Kandar and Grace Moore. Junior-year inductees include Mariam Al-Thani, Dmitriy Frolovskiy and Mohamed Harb.
Phi Alpha Theta (ΦΑΘ) is the national American honor society for undergraduate and graduate students and professors of history. Georgetown’s chapter, the Beta Pi chapter, founded in 1948, is the oldest chapter in the Mid-Atlantic region.
