Prospective Students Explored GU-Q Program, Admissions, & Student Life at University Expo Pavilion of U.S. Schools in Education City
Georgetown University in Qatar took part in the University Expo Qatar college fair in the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center on October 16 and 17, to showcase the university’s globally recognized degree programs and campus experience and to offer practical advice on application and financial aid requirements.
And for the first time , GU-Q along with the five other undergraduate of U.S.-based universities at Education City – including Carnegie Mellon Qatar (CMU-Q), Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), Texas A&M University at Qatar, Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q), and VCUarts Qatar – shared a specially designed pavilion at this Expo to make it easier than ever for students, families, educators, and career advisors to learn why Doha has become a globally recognized education and research hub in the region.
“Our dedicated admissions team works hard to introduce prospective students to all the rich academic and extracurricular activity that Georgetown has to offer,” said GU-Q dean, Dr. Ahmad Dallal, adding “and this year, we were so pleased to pursue these efforts in cooperation with our partner multiversity institutions, in order to highlight Qatar Foundation’s exceptional work in developing world-class higher education options right here at Education City.”
At the shared Expo pavilion, GU-Q admissions representatives were on hand to share information about campus life, extracurricular activities, and GU-Q’s Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (BSFS) degree offered in one of four majors: International Economics, International Politics, Culture and Politics, and International History, as well as five newly introduced minors. Since GU-Q’s first class graduated in 2009, alumni have pursued careers in a wide range of industries, including education, finance, media, communications, energy, and government.
“VCUarts Qatar is pleased to be part of University Expo where we have an opportunity to meet prospective students face-to-face, and share with them the exciting potential of joining an internationally recognized school of art and design right here in Doha,” said VCUarts Qatar Dean Amir Berbic, “bringing Qatar Foundation Universities together in this way demonstrates our complementary strengths and highlights the opportunities for cooperation and collaboration that Education City makes possible.”
Earlier this month, GU-Q worked with university and foundation partners on other admissions events, including Doha Counselors Day (DCD) and Discover Education City (DEC). DCD offered local high school counselors information and training to encourage and facilitate their students’ enrollment at EC. Discover Education City, sponsored by Qatar Foundation, offered students and their families the opportunity to learn more about the many programs available at EC.
