Service Provider Appreciation Lunch and Award Ceremony Serves up Good Food & Fun
The dean welcomed over 100 service providers at a recent appreciation lunch held in the GU-Q Atrium in March. This was the first of four lunches traditionally organized every year for the men and women who provide critical support and ensure the building operates efficiently and smoothly.
“On behalf of GU-Q, it gives me great pleasure to express our appreciation for the efforts of this entire support team. We want to recognize the roles everyone here plays in the operations of the university,” said Dean Dallal.
A buffet featuring a South Asian, African, and South East Asian menu was served, followed by open mic performances showcasing the musical talents of some team members. The lunch concluded with the traditional Star Awards ceremony.
Every month, students, faculty, and staff can nominate notable or outstanding service providers, and from this pool, three Star Award winners and six Highly Recommended winners were announced. In recognition of exceptional safety and security, five Safety Award winners were also announced. Framed photos of the GU-Q Service Provider Safety and Security Award winners are displayed in the Facilities and IT department foyer. The next appreciation lunch and award ceremony will be held over the summer in June.
