Upon her return from Davos, after attending a week-long 2015 Annual Meeting organized by the World Economic Forum, SFS-Q alum Fatima Muneer (SFS-Q ‘2011) was eager to share the highlights of her trip with the Georgetown community. Crediting her Georgetown experience in playing a significant role in allowing her journey to come this far, Fatima Muneer who also holds a post graduate degree from Columbia University, was chosen as one of the 50 young people from around the world to attend the 2015 World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting held in Davos, Switzerland.
During the week-long World Economic Forum, Fatima participated as a panelist and a moderator in a number of sessions on topics such as youth unemployment, skills and human capital, and most notably, she was specially selected by the French President Francois Hollande’s office to be in a group of 26 youth who attended a private session with the French president. Subsequently, she was chosen by the Forum to be a moderator in that session.
At this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, youth unemployment took center stage. Global business and public sector leaders were in Davos engaged in debate about the growing youth unemployment which many have said is growing in an uncomfortable proportion.
