Faculty Development Fund (FDF)

All full-time faculty members at Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) will be allocated a Faculty Development Fund of $20,000 at the start of each calendar year. Faculty from the DC Campus, Visiting Faculty, and GU-Q Postdoctoral Fellows are also eligible for this fund, with prorated awards if their tenure at GU-Q is only for a semester. If a faculty member’s tenure begins mid-calendar year, their FDF allocation will be prorated accordingly.

The funding is versatile and can be applied to a wide range of activities, including conference travel, professional development, workshops, fieldwork, data set purchases, and research support, all in line with university policies and procedures. For detailed information about the use of funds, please refer to the Faculty Development Fund Guidelines.

In exceptional circumstances, faculty members may apply for up to an additional $5,000 if their allocated funds are exhausted during the year. This additional funding is intended for unanticipated expenses in extraordinary situations and is awarded at the discretion of the Dean.

For a detailed description of the policies, procedures and the review process, please view the Faculty Development Fund Policy (as of January 2025).
