Students Gain Critical Research Skills at CURA Workshop
In a CIRS Undergraduate Research Advancement program workshop on February 7, 2019, students were introduced to research methods, and their place in the overall research process by visiting expert, Dr. Justin Gengler, Research Assistant Professor at the Social and Economic Survey Research Institute (SESRI) at Qatar University.
In this workshop, participants identified some of the most common methodological approaches and, in interactive group activities, chose a research method suitable for a particular research question.
By the end of the workshop, students were able to explain how different methodological approaches could be appropriate for tackling their own research projects, whether for a class, a UREP project, or a certificate or Honors thesis. The material presented by Dr. Gengler complemented the skills covered in the previous workshop on “Designing a Research Question.”
