Thai MOFA Delegation Discusses Educational Cooperation with Georgetown in Qatar

On December 16, 2013, Georgetown University in Qatar (GU-Q) hosted a senior delegation from Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The two sides discussed the possibility of establishing education cooperation between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service in Qatar.

Mr. Piroon Laismit, Director General of the Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency, led the official visit and was accompanied by the Director of the Ministry’s Institute of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Dhiravat Bhumichitr, and a number of officials.

GU-Q’s Dean, Dr. Gerd Nonneman, said: “Georgetown very much looks forward to establishing educational cooperation with Thailand’s foreign ministry, given Thailand’s significance in Asia. We would be honored to play a role in training some of Thailand’s next generation of diplomats. Educating global leaders who will make a difference for their communities and the world is at the heart of what Georgetown does–whether in DC or in Doha.”
